The ChapR was inspired by an NXT remote control our coach made to allow us to control the robot during the judges’ session without a laptop. It proved to be very useful, but it was bulky and fragile. Also, the controls were strange (NXT touch sensors as opposed to a joystick). As such, we decided to improve upon the design (and keep the build season going). Thus the ChapR was created (see below for detailed process). We were able to patent the device and have shipped over 150 units to date! After the success of the device, we took the Chap Remote and transformed it into the Chap Research program (www.ChapResearch.com). We now work on a variety of projects.
